For most people getting started in the world of making money on the internet those two things are not available and so you must, must, must have a website where you can monetise your efforts.

The big issue for most people however is that this in itself is an expensive exercise and a daunting one, most web companies will charge at least $800 for a simple 5 page brochure site. This is no good for you as you will be wanting to add more information and affiliate links as you go along.

Many people will make the mistake of using a free platform which again is a mistake as nothing points out that you are new to this game faster than a URL from one of the free sites like WordPress or Blogger for example.

You will probably be asking how can 10 simple articles change your life?

Let me tell you a story first, it’s a good one and will help set the stage.

A good friend of mine had quit her day job and began selling jewelery on trade me to pay the bills.

She’s done a lot more than just pay the bills, though, as she’s become her own boss and now works about 70% less than she did when she was “employed.” And her income? Oh, maybe quadrupled.

Although she’s only been at it for about four months now, she’s really improved her quality of life substantially.

Despite her initial success, my friend realizes that sshe can accomplish more. Problem is, she’s not quite sure how to go about it.

Late last week, I was over at her house (her hubby does the most amazing BBQ’s and was cooking us a shoulder of Wild pork on the rotisserie), and she wanted to know if I thought her jewelery business could benefit in any way from having a Web site. For instance, could she build an online storefront that would help her reach customers outside of Trademe? (You guys know my answer already don’t you)

In theory, owning a Web site provides a nice platform from which to build an audience and raise the profile of your business.

In practice, however, most Web sites end up becoming useless bits of digital real estate, hardly worth the price tag that accompanied the original domain.

As I was thinking about a response to my friend’s question, I began to realize that a majority of people out there simply don’t understand how to approach business on the Web.

This is precisely why so many sites become “useless bits of digital real estate.”
And let me tell you now, It’s not about technology — it’s about value.

So, where do most people go wrong?

The problem here is that our perception of value on the Web has been skewed unnaturally.

Yes, it’s true that there is value in new technology. For a company like YouTube, there was unbelievable value in their product.

But here’s the real mind twist:

The real value on the Web lies in the content, not in the technology that helps us produce it.

Think about this… Do you really care how that Monkey Peeing in it’s mouth was delivered to you on YouTube, or do you just care about the video itself?

The value lies in what your content is, not how it got there.

So what does this mean for my friends Web site and her jewelery business?

It means that a bunch of artsy fartsy technology driving a state-of-the-art, online storefront would be a terrible waste of time.

Thanks to the incredible rate of innovation, anybody can go out and get a remarkably functional online storefront, in fact it would cost about $20 per month. This fact alone drives the potential value of a Web-based store into the toilet.

In other words, If you want to go buy a 3 bedroom home down in Tokoroa, you might expect to see a cost of about $150,000. If, however, you wanted to buy a 3bedroom home within the fringe of Auckland City you might expect to pay $1,500,000, if not more!

The bottom line is that there’s not a whole lot of residual value in things that:

* are not scarce
* are not unique

It’s true that some companies and programmers actually need to focus on technology, because that’s where their value proposition is, its what they do.

However your stored value lies in your content, because it’s the one thing you can bring to the marketplace that is both scarce and unique.

And I say It all starts with 10 simple articles.

So, again, how can 10 simple articles change your life?

These articles will become the foundation for your Web site (right now my wife is writing 10 Articles for a site called Child Friendly which is another STORM) — not to mention the future of your business.

Smart marketers certainly know the value of 10 articles on a niche topic, and I truly believe that there is absolutely nothing better you can do for your business.

By writing 10 simple articles on a topic that you love (your Niche), you’ll effectively:

1. Create stored value in your site.
2. Add equity to your business.

So say you stick with writing articles on that topic for a year, and by the end of that time, you’ve accrued 100 articles (thats right, about 2 per week or maybe 2hours per week). At the end of the year, you will own a Web site that is chock-full of detailed, current, and relevant articles on your subject, and you’ll likely have a very targeted (and interested) audience who have all opted to come along for the ride.

And if you never believe anything else I say, make damn sure you believe this:

Google loves Web sites like this.

In my friends case, if all she had were an online storefront and a slick interface, anyone could step into her market and compete against her with their own storefront. In essence, there would be no residual value in her site because anyone could replicate what she already had with their own products…

But they’d have one hell of a time trying to compete with her content.

If she had 100 articles and they had none, it would be a joke. The bottom line is that in any topic, whoever controls the information flow around that subject holds all the power.

By writing articles on jewelery (handmade in her case), my friend can establish herself as the preeminent source of information on that topic. She could build a valuable Web site and a targeted, interested audience at almost no cost. In as little as 9 or 10 months, she could create so many channels through which to make money that it would be utterly ridiculous.

At that point, hers only problem would be figuring out how to further capitalize on all the opportunities that she’d created for herself.

And it all would have started with 10 simple articles.

See. Too Easy

This is the question I get asked the most. Does it really work and how do you make money fast.

Money making online is easily the most misunderstood topic around because everyone thinks that in order to make money online, you must be famous, have a huge following of people, already have tonnes of money or you must commit long term to see returns.

In reality, all of those beliefs are true however there are also methods to make money online that don’t involve long term commitment, huge lists, tonnes of money or fame to see results and still be an effective way in pulling in a few extra hundred dollars every month.

Online Paid Surveys

Online paid surveys are a simple way and effective way to make money online  simply because it is rewarding for the amount of time you put into taking the surveys. Unfortunately here in New Zealand most of the online surveys don’t allow participants from our little country. I am keeping my eye out for companies that are interested in our opinions so check back here for more in the future.

Blogging to Make Money

Did you know that I make a reasonable amount of money just from this blog? It is true. Most of my income comes from blogs including this one you are currently reading.

Blogging is not for everyone though as it involves both time and passion for the topic you are writing about before your blog will really take off, however it can prove to be a great source of income if done right.

Usually you need to submit 12 articles or posts per month and if you are excepted you are paid a minimum monthly amount for the first 2 years for example with about.com.  What your joining when you are trying to apply for one of them, is a network of writers such as your self where you can read and write with other homemakers such as your self. This can easily pull in an extra $500 every month for passionate writers who are serious about the position. What affiliate marketing typically is, is basically you get compensation for telling or influencing someone else to make a purchase or take action.  A couple of well known reputable affiliate networks are Commission Junction and ShareaSale which I am an affiliate of.

There are many kinds of compensation when it comes to joining affiliate marketing, such as, CPM, CPA, PPS, and PPC. This way of earning online is great if you hold some authority over a large group of people or have a large list. Affiliate marketing is typically great for blogs, webmasters, and large network owners such as YouTube activists.

With the economic crisis we are all facing these days, a growing number of people are trying to find ways to earn money online outside of their regular 9 to 5 job. This is really a very smart way to earn additional income or to completely change your life through internet marketing, but most of the time beginners don’t get successful on the internet marketing arena.

There is a very simple reason behind this: Terrible mistakes are done in the early stages of their online marketing career. Let me tell you some of the most common errors beginners got into and how you can avoid them. Pay close attention because this can be the difference between your success or your failure.

It is known that thousands of people are actually generating huge amount of income through engaging in different ways to earn money online, and I am one of them. Nevertheless, the truth is that most of the inexperienced ones never really get to earn money online.

3. Joining ‘Shop to Earn’ programs.

One of the many ways to earn money online, for the promoting company of course, include ‘Shop to Earn’ programs. This is another common scam you should avoid.

Shop to Earn programs work by generating income through your personal shopping as well as your friends. They deceive people by claiming that there are no sales involved but in truth you’ll be required to come up with about $400 to just to get started.

4. Engaging yourself with systems involving CPA, PPC or PPV.

CPA works by generating leads for a certain vendor and getting paid for it. Actually, you can earn a lot of money through this method but this is really not suited for newbie’s.

Other ways to earn money online are through PPC and PPV wherein you’ll be paid by getting referrals that will click and view ads online. These methods are not recommended, at least for the first twelve months.

5. Finding a great system or method and not following it consistently.

A lot of people I know were so fortunate to actually come upon really great ways to earn money online but never worked hard to make the system work for them. Like any other job, it takes patience, persistence and hard work until you start earning profit. The wait is really worth it, trust me.

6. Earn money through systems presented on Infomercials.

The truth is 99% of these infomercials telling you ways to earn money online don’t work at all. I’d rather watch something of more value on my television instead of spending time viewing these unreliable infomercials.

7. Get information overload.

Don’t get overloaded with information. Many times, novices allow themselves to be overwhelmed with information.

This is the one of the most common mistakes people make leading them to internet marketing failure. Focus on just one system and don’t pay much attention to hundreds of methods you will come across to.

I say that because after 2 years of fluffing around on the net looking for ways to make money through affiliate marketing it became rather obvious that it was not as easy as all the “big guns’ tell you it is.
